Electrolytic Cell Manifold

The PRS electrolytic cell manifold is a streamlined, integrated system with precision-machined components that work in tandem to control electrolyte flow and maintain structural stability. All fittings are selected for compatibility with acidic copper electrolysis solutions.

Electrolytic Cell Manifold Introduction

For copper electrorefining plants and electrowinning tankhouses, consistent and uniform electrolyte flow within electrolysis cells is the foundation of stable production, reliable current efficiency and high-quality cathode copper output. As a core component of electrolytic cell systems, PRS’s electrolytic cell manifold is engineered to precisely deliver circulating electrolyte across the entire cell area, eliminating flow irregularities and operational disruptions. Designed for the harsh acidic electrolyte environment of copper tankhouses, our manifold system features a robust, easy-to-install structure and premium corrosion-resistant materials—with CPVC as the preferred material for all key pipeline components—ensuring long-term, low-maintenance operation.

Key Components:

  • PVC Flange: Securely connects the manifold to plant electrolyte circulation pipelines, ensuring leak-proof sealing
  • CPVC Pipe: The main distribution line, PRS’s core material choice for optimal corrosion resistance and flow performance
  • Reducer: Adapts to different pipeline calibers for seamless electrolyte flow transition
  • Manifold Support Blocks: Mounted at the cell bottom to fix and stabilize the entire manifold system

Manifold Support Block Design

Stable pipeline positioning is critical to avoiding vibration, displacement or uneven flow during continuous electrolyte circulation—our engineered manifold support blocks address this need with a design tailored for copper electrolysis cell conditions.

Each distribution pipe is supported by four acid-resistant rubber support blocks installed at the electrolysis cell bottom, with strict material and performance specifications:

  • Material: Acid-resistant rubber
  • Minimum Density: 1.5 kg/dm³

These support blocks deliver practical operational benefits:

  • Superior resistance to sulfuric acid electrolyte and acid mist corrosion
  • Secure, non-slip positioning of the manifold pipe
  • Effective vibration absorption during electrolyte flow
  • Long service life under 24/7 continuous tankhouse operation

Material Selection – PRS Preferred CPVC

Copper electrolysis electrolytes are primarily sulfuric acid-based, with elevated operating temperatures, making corrosion resistance the primary criterion for manifold material selection. Common options include UPVC, CPVC, PPH and 316L stainless steel, and PRS exclusively selects CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) for our manifold’s main pipeline components—an industry-proven choice that delivers unbalanced performance for copper tankhouse conditions:

  • Exceptional acid and chemical resistance, maintaining stability in high-concentration sulfuric acid environments
  • High temperature tolerance (up to 93°C), far exceeding UPVC and PPH, suitable for elevated electrolyte operating temperatures
  • Smooth inner walls that minimize flow resistance, boosting circulation efficiency and reducing pump energy load
  • Long service life (10-15 years in typical copper electrolysis conditions), eliminating frequent replacement and maintenance downtime
